South Cairns Gymnastics Club Newsletter

Club News

Apologies for the extended period between Newsletters, Term 2 was so busy we were struggling to catch our breath! It was by far one of the busiest Terms we have had for a while due to the competition season starting a little earlier than usual with the NQ Games, the change of our annual Winter Warm Ups event to an open Invitational backed up the following week by our GymSkills and Boys Recreational Assessment Day and to top it off at the end of week 10 we sent 22 of our WAG Level 4-7 gymnasts to represent us at the QLD State Club Championships on the Sunshine Coast! Term 3 looks to be just as busy with 4 competitions including the FNQ Junior Regional Champs and the QLD Junior State Champs. We are very excited to be hosting the FNQ Junior Regional Championships this year for the first time in South Cairns Gymnastics history, thanks to our new state of the art venue! ~ Club Manager Karen Magee

On the 8-9th June South Cairns Gymnastics hosted our annual Winter Warm ups Competition. We had a total of 174 WAG and 28 MAG gymnasts attend from South Cairns Gymnastics, Barron Valley Gymnastics, Mareeba Gymnastics and Marlin Coast Gymnastics. Winter Warm Ups is also a compulsory event for our GymSports Levels gymnasts as part of our Recreational Assessment Program.
We would like to say a special THANK YOU to all of the volunteers, judges and coaches that made this event such a great success!

2024 NQ GAMES

The 2024 NQ Games was one of the biggest events in FNQ gymnastics that we have ever seen! The event had to be extended over 3 days to allow for over 350 entries from across the NQ and FNQ Region. 65 of those competitors were from South Cairns Gymnastics from both our Competitive and GymSports Levels Programs. This event marked the first full competition for 2024 for our Junior athletes from Level 1-6 and was also the first event showcasing our new Club Leotards!
Well done to everyone that participated, it was great to have so many of our gymnasts taking part in the largest multi-sport event in regional Australia.
